So, I have been thinking about Defcon this year. I am not sure if I should go or not. Before I make my final decision, I would like to know who intends to go and who doesn't. Frankly, I am leaning toward not going. Does anyone have any compelling reasons why I should actually attend this year?

I feel you should go Spyds, I plan on attending this year and , I know I attended only 1 time before in '06 and it was a supreme time and because of you that I learned so much! You took the time to teach me some of the ropes and the [sidesteps] of the business! You happen to be the UCoD founder and leader. We need our founder there! You make it alot of fun, you are part of the party, you seem to find the party!! You know you love it and you know you wanna go! You already made it to how many cons in the past what, 4, or is it 5 yrs? I think you should go but, you are a big boy and you have to do what you feel is right, if you don't attend, you will be missed and I will just have to send you plenty of pics!! And some other geek swag!! Hope ya make it though, I plan to!!

I agree with black on this one. I think you should go. It wouldn't be the same without you. I plan on attending the con this year. But, it is your decision. I hope to see you there.

I agree, things wouldn't be the same without spyder. I think that it would be far better.
No more yelling out at hackers jeopardy. Do you have any idea how embarassing it is to sit next to a loud mouth like that while everyone is having a good time?
No more "do this" "do that" during the off time. Last year I didn't even get five minutes where he didn't have me working on a project.
Last year, he was yelling at people in the shwagg room the entire time.
I mean, I don't want to be too rude (this is his site), but I think that I could enjoy myself a lot better if he wasn't there.

I have just one comment to that.
You are clearly not the person whom voted, "I have never been to Defcon".

Do you realise how much fun that is though sitting next to a guy that knows so much at Hacker Jeopardy, yelling out at all the correct answers!! As far as the Shwagg room goes, the man knows everyone in there for pete's sake!!! He's been there for the past 4 yrs now, it's almost like his second home, lol, I wish I knew half the people at DefCon Spyds knew, if I went as much as he went, I prolly would! As far as you Matrix, Hope to see you there man!! I do plan on being there in '08!! As far as Miisha being the bartender, oh well, guess we'll just have to deal with that fact, lol!! Hope to see all y'all there!! Best of all, how many of us knows how to get THE network up in multiple rooms at the con going in a matter of minutes like none other than the Spyder!! Case settled! Hope to see you there Spyds!! Twisted Evil Laughing Laughing

Yeah, that guy last year that lost the rest of his team did seem to know all the answers. It was cool sitting right behind him. What was his name? Umm , I forgot, but he was smart!

I am going to Vegas in June. I have a friend getting married. Unfortunately I have made a rule never more than one trip to Vegas a year. It seems to get spendy!

Plus almost all talks are avaiable online.

Shouts to all!

...Yeah, I'm still here, waiting in the shadows for my time to pounce. Hopefully soon!

So I take it you won't be going next year either. I suppose we could just get drunk in Wendover and hit the three card table and I can watch you get drunk as I lose my money? Idea Oh, wait... I won this year at Defcon and in Wendover. I did hold back at Hacker Jeopardy more this year. So much so Wynn mimicked my posture and gave me a wondering view. I guess he was used to the obnoxious UCoD guy. I, further guess, the quiet Spyder was not expected. Chris from the EFF and I had a fantastic time at the bar and the roulette table. Naturally, I took those winnings to the Three card table where that $400 became $2700. As far as I can tell no one was embarrassed this year and no one woke up in their own puke. All in all, this last one was a huge success. Everyone had a great time. Sorry you missed it. Needless to say, it is time to start thinking about Defcon and or Toorcon again. If you think it is likely you can enjoy such an event, maybe you should head over to defcon.org and get involved in the forums and find out how to get into the contests. Maybe this year, we could actually form a team and get hammered like all the other contestants.
